The Power of "Philosophy" and "Story" I Rediscovered in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - Mugen Castle Arc

The other day, I went to see the movie Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba the Movie: Mugen Castle.

This time's main feature is "Upper Moon Phase 3: Gyokko"

Even though I knew the ending from the manga, seeing it again on screen really stirred up my emotions!

It made me cry, left me with mixed feelings, and above all, I was left with a strong sense that it truly moved me.

As a movie, it's simply amazing. Tanjiro, Giyu, and Akaza are all so captivating. "Demon Slayer really is incredible...!" (Just a regular fan lol)

But this time, while watching the movie, I felt strongly about one more thing:The Importance of "Philosophy" and "Story" That Translate to Businessis.

Below this point,
Spoilers ahead.

It's not superficial ideals, but "ideals backed by a compelling story" that move people.

What I felt while watching the Akaza arc was that his character..."Philosophy""The story behind it"is made of.

In business, too, it's said that a mission statement is important, but...

  • "Why Do We Need a Philosophy?"
  • What difference does having a philosophy make?

If you don't understand that, it tends to become nothing more than empty platitudes.

To begin withWhat is a philosophy?

According to the dictionary...

Basic concepts and beliefs.
The fundamental principles underlying business operations and plans
A standard that serves as a guideline for making judgments, representing an ideal state of how things should be.

At the core of Kibutsuji's actions lies this principle.

"Strength is good."

He always

I have been saying this all along.

Acting in accordance with those values, I have behaved as a merciless demon.

But...

Toward the end of his battle with Tanjiro, Akaza regains his memories from when he was human.

And then,Why does he obsess over "strength" to such an abnormal degree? He remembers!

The reason I'm so focused on strength is...

If you're not strong,
Because I can't keep my promises to the people who matter most.

The root of Kyouka's desire to be strong lies in...
The loss and regret of the past: "I couldn't protect the person I cared about."I was coming from there😭

From here on out, you won't be able to watch without tears.

The person who was important to Ikaza was poisoned and killed, wasn't he?
To those who can't win fairly.

Rather than fighting head-on, they resort to cowardly tactics like "poisoning the well," which is why I came to despise "weak people."

From that experience,

Weakness = Evil
Strength is justice.

That belief took root, shaping his personality and actions as an oni.

When I learned this, my impression of Kyouka as "just a violent character" changed completely.

Kokazō was actually a really, really kind person (I'm about to cry again! 😭)

His words, "I want to become stronger," were his values, his wish, and his own kind of kindness—I deeply empathized with that. This is the power of philosophy and story!

Business is no different. It's the "story" that underpins the "philosophy" that draws people in.

What we can learn from the way this Akaza is depicted is,The Strength of Having Principles

And
The importance of articulating the story of where that philosophy comes fromis.

In the case of Kyouka, his backstory is intense, and the principles derived from it are unique, but precisely because of that, they're easy to understand.

For example, in business too,

  • "I want to help women shine."
  • "I want to deliver peace of mind."
  • "A Bright Future for Our Children"

Many people espouse such principles, but there
Your own story of why you think thatif not,
Justclichésand that's the end of it.

But there,"I've had this kind of experience. That's why I'm working with this philosophy."Words backed by a story carry weight and persuasiveness.

Every time I tell the whole story, it gets too long and isn't smart, so realistically, I can't write the full story every time.

But when a story embodies that philosophy, it becomes more likely to stay with people.

And it becomes your own axis.

When you start a business as a sole proprietor or work as a freelancer, you'll encounter all sorts of important concepts like differentiation, strengths, and branding. But "philosophy design" is the core foundation that ties it all together.

Articulating your philosophy may be a mundane task, but it lays the foundation for becoming a stronger person.

Putting your philosophy into words takes a lot of time, requires deep thought, is painful because it means revisiting difficult past experiences, and causes anxiety because there's no clear-cut right answer.

And since it doesn't mean you'll start earning money right away, it tends to get put off.

I struggled too. I thought I couldn't handle conceptual design, lol.

But those who can articulate their principles and story remain steadfast.
Has backbone.
And I won't give up easily.

Among all possible choices,
You will be able to choose the path that suits you.

In business, having a vision and a story allows you to stay focused and move forward steadily,You'll become someone who resonates with others, gains their support, and gets chosen.

I think that's something incredibly important not just for people in business, but for living life in general.

By the way, they say they're creating a philosophy, but to be precise,"What we notice and put into words"Everyone has their own principles. They just haven't realized it yet, so they can't put it into words.

My philosophy—"Increasing the number of people with inner peace"—is actually built from stories.

I myself am also working under the philosophy of "wanting to increase the number of people with inner peace."

But this too wasn't just something I came up with on a whim; there's a solid reason behind it, experience to back it up, and a story that supports it.

If you're interested, I'd be delighted if you could take a look here.
