corridor funeralWhat is

Sango Burial" is the first of its kind in Japan and originated in Okinawa.A New Style of Ocean Scatteringand an environmentally friendly ending option for those who love nature and the ocean.

The remains are crushed into small pieces and returned to nature as “eruka,” weathered reef-forming coral, in the beautiful ocean of Okinawa, in a funeral ceremony based on the concept of "return to the sea.

I am writing about what I thought and felt after actually going out to sea on a boat and experiencing a sango burial.

  • I'm interested in a corridor funeral.
  • Think carefully about life and death
  • I feel uncomfortable with the shape of conventional graves.

If so, please continue reading ✨.

Why I was interested in a third-party funeral

My mother had been telling me for about 10 years that she wanted me to be scattered in the ocean when I died, and that has always stuck with me.

And myself,

  • I don't want my children to be inconvenienced by the upkeep of the cemetery.
  • What will I leave behind after I'm gone?
  • How will they accept the death of their parents?

and is the type of person who often thinks about "death" and "how life ends" on a daily basis.

For me, the story of "sango burial" resonated very naturally!

AndThis is what we're going to need! There are so many people who could benefit from this style!"I decided to participate in the trial session.

I actually participated in a trial session.

We boarded a boat from a fishing port in Naha, and were ready for the experience.

Before setting sail, the captain briefed us on the following

  • Solving the challenges of traditional ocean scattering.
  • ELCA" is a material that returns to coral and has a low environmental impact.
  • The ability to record scattering points by latitude and longitude so that they can be visited later.
  • The place to be sunk must be a sacred sea area where the god of the sea dwells.
  • That some whole families from all over the country participate.

People are born from the sea and return to the sea. This is not the end, but a new beginning.

The beauty of being sucked into the deep blue sea.

It is about a 20 minute boat ride from the fishing port.

We arrived at the scattering point where the waves were relatively calm.

The "elka" in which powdered remains are embedded is taken to the sea...

It was so beautiful to watch it slowly sink into the deep blue sea that it naturally brought tears to my eyes.

Then we took the flowers to the sea. A quiet, warm time passed, surrounded by the sea breeze and the sound of the waves.

This was a hands-on experience, but it was an inspiring moment.

The sequence of events is in the video.

My view of life and death and what I told my family

After this experience,I would like to be sent off with a "sango funeral".I told my family.

I had originally thought that I would like a natural burial and did not want to have a grave, but I think I have found the answer to that question.

I myself would like to "donate my organs" if possible at the time of my death.
(My child said to me, "Mom, don't say that anymore! (My child said to me, "Mom, don't say that anymore!" but I feel it is important to convey my thoughts and feelings now that I am alive because you never know when something might happen😅)

I would like to introduce this "Sango Burial" service to my mother, who was hoping to have her ashes scattered in the ocean.

A new form of memorial service that creates peace of mind

Sango burial" is a still unknown form of memorial service.

But,I am sure there are many people who will feel relieved and lightened by knowing

Therefore, I would like to gradually inform those in need of this "sango burial" in the way that I can.

Be careful not to get seasick!

One last note of caution! You will get seasick! LOL!

I'm the type of person who gets motion sickness easily, but I boarded the ship unprepared....I was completely drunk...! 🤮.

At the time of the experience or funeral, prepare the following

  • take anti-sickness medicine
→Drink at least 30 minutes before embarkation!
  • Take a candy bar.
→I hear that saliva makes you less prone to seasickness.
  • Prepare an etiquette bag.
→ It's important to be ready to vomit right away.

This alone makes a difference in peace of mind😅.

summary

It is somewhat taboo to think about "death" and "memorial services,
